WP1

Pervasive adaptive service oriented software architecture aims at creating a software framework for heterogeneous embedded devices that seamlessly interact with humans and local environment in a self-organized and context-aware manner. The framework needs to act in a collaborative fashion, representing context by monitoring the environment and anticipating users needs by registering key behavioural components such as habits, emotions and intentions. This work package leads to the achievements described in the Objective 1 (Context-aware software infrastructure).

WP2

Pervasive adaptive foundations, development and runtime further refine the WP1 by adding a next tier in a middleware allowing for higher-level components to act and react in an adaptive manner. It also provides tools and methodology for developing and deploying pervasive adaptive systems in real application scenarios. By the end of the project the work in this work package results with fulfilment of the Objective 2 (Adaptive software components).

WP3

Pervasive adaptive emotional experience specifically targets user emotional state and provides methods and techniques to sense, analyze and react according to the participating users mood detected by either physiological or behavioural expression. The experience gained in this work will affect both software work packages (WP1 and WP2) and application demonstrator (WP6) and results in achieving the Objective 3 (Pervasive adaptive emotional interaction).

WP4

Pervasive adaptive cognitive experience aims at capturing the cognitive response of the user to problem-solving, planning, or managing task activity. Based on the measured level of mental effort that is required, the system can adapt to the cognitive experience of the users. The results gained in this work packages will be deployed by software packages (WP1 and WP2) and the demonstrator (WP6), reaching the Objective 4 (Pervasive adaptive cognitive interaction).

WP5

Pervasive adaptive physical experience aims at providing the most physiological environmental conditions to people in their daily environments, even during activities which foster deterioration in human performances. A number of physical factors (temperature, comfort, movements, etc) will be observed and taken into account for controlling the physical conditions in an adaptive manner (e.g. adaptive temperature control, adaptive seats). The work within this work package is responsible for the attaining of the Objective 5 (Pervasive adaptive physical interaction).

WP6

Pervasive adaptive demonstrator focuses on the integration of the most relevant methodologies and technologies developed with the previous WPs in a more comprehensive user experience such as driving road cars. This work package gathers the whole consortium and evaluates the cross-experience feasibility and exploitability of the achieved results to provide more pleasurable and safer conditions to its end users. That guaranties a successful accomplishment of the objective 6 (Pervasive adaptive automotive demonstrator).

WP7

Dissemination Collaboration and Exploitation takes care that the work and results achieved within the project are distributed to a wider scientific and industrial community. Though each work package include publication and deployment of project results, this WP will specifically target coordinated presentation of multidisciplinary REFLECT results through the Web presence, and exchange of information with industry and research institutions. Special attention will be paid to the collaboration with other projects from the PA initiative. Especially through the industrial partners (Ferrari S.P.A and Philips) the mark will be set on how to exploit the project results and turn them into the real products.

WP8

Project management is concerned with administrative coordination, monitoring and scheduling each work package according to the project plan. Throughout the project lifetime this work package will insure a smooth cooperation with European Commission, internal project collaboration and assessment and scientific, technical and financial coordination.
